Learn Cuban Salsa!

Dance – Community – Charity

What was the name again of that figure, that we learned?

On this site we want to inform you about all the content we are teaching in our Salsa classes. We highly recommend you not to look at the contents in order to prepare yourself before a class. Learning Salsa from videos is just no good idea.

These videos are meant for you students to look up something after you have learned it in class.

Music

So if you are a beginner and you want to practice, you need music. We recommend you for the start not search for any Salsa music online but use our recommended playlists. That will ensure you use Cuban Salsa music in a beginner friendly speed. We will give you playlists with and without counting.

Practice your Musicality – a lot

We at Dance4Water are convinced having great dances roots in good musicality rather then pulling one crazy figure after another. To be able to truely connect with the music, with your dance partner and yourself you want to make sure you are confident about finding the “1” in Salsa songs. We recommend you to use the free App Dancetime (Apple / Android) if you want to practice musicality outside of our classes.

Classes content

Salsa Level 0

Salsa 0 is about learning Guapea (a Salsa basic step) and about how to dance together in a couple. You will also learn dile que no, a move to switch places with your dance partner. In Cuban Salsa you need this move after almost every other move that you will learn later, so its good to learn it early. Also you will need dile que no to dance Salsa in a rueda (in a group of people) to change dance partners (also called: dame).

Salsa Level 0 is just one single class, repeating itself evey week, mondays from 19:00 – 20:00. Its free of charge and you can repeat it as often as you like before you go to the next level.
